Predictions & Responsible Use Policy — Equine Intelligence
Effective date: 7 October 2026 · Last updated: 7 October 2026
This policy explains what Equine Intelligence's predictions, ratings and "fair odds" are, how they should be used, and — just as importantly — what they are not. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Equine Intelligence is operated by Equine Science ("we", "us", "our").
1. What our predictions are
Equine Intelligence produces statistical analytics from publicly published show-jumping competition results. These include:
- Ratings and rankings for horses, riders and breeders;
- Predictive analytics, such as estimated win probabilities and class suitability for a given field; and
- "Fair odds", which are a plain-language way of expressing a predicted probability (for example, a 20% predicted chance of winning is shown as fair odds of 5.0).
All of these are model outputs — calculated estimates generated by our algorithms from historical performance data. They represent our best statistical interpretation of past results, not statements of fact about what will happen.
2. What our predictions are NOT
- They are not betting or gambling services. Equine Intelligence does not accept, place, facilitate or broker any wager, and we are not a bookmaker, betting exchange, or gambling operator.
- "Fair odds" are not bookmaker odds. They are implied directly from our predicted probabilities. They are not sourced from, benchmarked against, or connected to any betting market, and they do not reflect any price at which a bet could be placed.
- They are not betting advice or tips. Nothing on the platform is a recommendation to bet, and we do not advise on, encourage or endorse gambling of any kind.
- They are not guarantees. Outcomes in sport are uncertain. A horse or rider with a high predicted win probability can and often will lose, and a low-rated combination can win.
3. The Predictions Game
Our optional Predictions Game is a paper-credits competition for entertainment and engagement only. It uses virtual credits that have no monetary value, cannot be purchased with or exchanged for real money, and do not involve any real-money stake or cash prize. It is not a betting product and is not a lottery or game of chance under the Gambling Act 2003.
4. Accuracy, uncertainty and experimental features
- Our models are probabilistic and imperfect. They are built from historical data that may be incomplete, delayed or contain errors, and they cannot account for every factor affecting a result (conditions, scratchings, form on the day, course design, and so on).
- Some predictive features are experimental and may be labelled as such, or shown with a confidence level. Lower-confidence outputs should be treated with additional caution.
- We update our models as new competition results are published. Ratings, rankings and predictions therefore change over time and are only ever current as at the date shown.
5. How predictions should be used
Equine Intelligence is an information and analytics tool to support your own judgement — not a substitute for it. You should not rely on our predictions, ratings or fair odds as the sole basis for any decision, including:
- placing a bet or any other form of wager;
- buying, selling, breeding or leasing a horse;
- entering, scratching or planning for a competition; or
- any other financial, commercial or welfare decision.
Always combine our analytics with your own knowledge, professional advice and independent enquiry.
6. A note on gambling
Although we do not offer betting, we recognise that probability and odds content can be used by some people in connection with gambling. If you choose to gamble, please do so responsibly and within your means. If gambling is causing you or someone you know harm, free, confidential help is available in New Zealand from the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655 (gamblinghelpline.co.nz).
7. No professional advice
Our analytics are general in nature and do not take account of your individual circumstances. They are not financial, investment, veterinary, breeding or legal advice. Where you need advice of that kind, consult a suitably qualified professional.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our models, features or legal obligations. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be notified through the platform.
